I am a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Director of the Mathematics and Science Education Center at Appalachian State University. A rural STEM educator, I completed my Ph.D. in Education at The University of Tennessee- Knoxville.
I am currently interested in the organizational structures of education preparation and how to leverage resources and social structures for the improvement of teaching and learning. I work on several projects related to leadership development and support teacher leadership in a variety of settings. I see strengthening educational outcomes as key to the self-sufficiency and sustainability of communities.
Current projects include the TEAMS: Noyce Scholarship Program, the Smoky Mountain STEM project, and collaborations with the TEA Fellows Alumni of Cameroon (CAMTAL).
